The Category Editor

Writers Project Organizer uses many different Categories for storing and organizing your data. You can Add, Edit or Delete a Category through the Category Editor.

The Category EditorAll Categories appear listed in a combo box; their subcategories appear in the list view below. When entering data onto a page with a combo box present, Writers Project Organizer requires that you select one of the items before saving the data.

To Add a new subcategory to a Category, click on the Add New button, enter the name into the Name field and then click on Save. To Edit a Category, click on a subcategory in the list view. When that name appears in the Name field, you can then edit the name.

To delete a subcategory, click on the name in the list view. When it appears in the Name field, click on the delete button.

In some instances you might not be able to delete a subcategory due to it having relationships in the database. You will have to change these relationships before deleting the selected subcategory, though you can still edit the name.

In the image below the subcategory ‘Conception’ cannot be deleted due to relationships in the database. In this case, one of those relationships is to the manuscript ‘Ripped Van Winkle’.

All of the categories appear throughout the program in the combo boxes used to enter information.
